Summer 2008

Hi Everyone,

Last summer, my family (and 2 sets of cousins' families) flew to Vietnam. We stayed for 6 weeks while the cousins stayed for 3. I have a lot of pictures from the trip that I'd like to share. I know it's a bit late but each picture has a great story to tell.

Here is one of the first images I took there. It's quite random but this was our view from the hotel (Khách Sạn Bích Ngọc 97A NGUYỄN DUY DƯƠNG, Phường 9 Quận 5, Tp Hồ Chí Minh)

A man's simple career: Selling ice.

He would chop it up into uniform blocks and would sell like that or dump it into a crusher. A young man, probably his son is hired to deliver the ice to cafes and street side carts selling drinks such as iced coffee or fresh sugar cane juice. Sometimes people would come and pick it up.

This fascinated us all... A few blocks of ice probably supported his whole family. It is just so different from Canada.
